Why I dont oppose donations to temple --- solution is NOT to donate to temples , but activists should work to remove govt control over temples AND improve law-drafts wrt temple management . India's GDP in year ending 31-mar-2013 was Rs 100 lakh core . And there are 85 crore adult Indians of all religions and 65 crore adult Hindus. So Rs 80 lakh crore per year donation would mean each Hindu is donating over Rs 1 lakh per year. This too large to be real. So I dont think temple income is even close to Rs 80 lakh crore . BUT IMO YOUR BASIC POINT IS CORRECT , that temples do get a lot of donations. My estimate is Rs 200,000 crore per year, and that is quite high indeed. . now you said "मंदिर मे दान दैने की बजाय उन पैसौ की अधिक जरुरत गरीब को पेट के लिए और सरकार को देश चलाने के लिए जयादा जरुरत है |" . Well, Sikhs donate huge money to their temples and poverty in Sikhs has been near zero since 1600 AD !!! And beggary in Sikhs is near zero. And in 1700 AD , Sikhs were 3% of population of then (Indian Punjab + Pakistan Punjab + rest of Pakistan + Afghanistan) and yet they won over and ruled over most of Punjab + Afghanstian etc. !! And a big part of strength came due to donations to gurudwara = temples. . So IMO donation to temples REDUCES poverty and reduces many problems if donations are well spent. So I dont ask people to donate less even by 1% if they wish to donate after paying taxes. I only ask them to work for laws to reduce govt control over temples and print law-drafts that create options to improve temple management.
