Social mobility is best measured by NOT how many kids of poor parents became rich --- but how many kids from poor parents , who were govt employees , became engineers , scientists etc . . Parental background of all engineers , doctors , scientists below age of 30 years in India, China , Russia, USA, China India as of today should be tabulated. . The gut feeling I am having is that kids of poor , except govt employees, have stopped becoming engineers, scientists, doctors etc etc. Many of them do become rich --- but that is via real estate deals, businesses, govt contracts, politics etc etc and not via education, Becoming rich via any fair means is welcome, and no profession is wrong. But "why kids from poor families are no longer becoming engineering , scientists , doctors etc" is an important question. . The answer is simple --- the education in municipal schools has been going from bad to worse to worst. . Solution is also simple --- Right to recall district education officer. Across world, education for poor improved ONLY after education offices became "political" !! eg Education in London and UK took boost ONLY in after 1870 when schools board members / chairman were elected by ALL citizens across London !! Back then, MPs were elected by mere 10% citizens , but the Chairman of London School were elected by all citizens (see wiki at http://ift.tt/1AM8xpd ) . And USA took it to next level by creating RTR over their District Education Officer. . In India, most education volunteers oppose RTR over DEO !!! (guess why?) And SoMoKe have opposed RTR-DEO for past 40 years (guess why) . And their andbhagats have also opposed RTR-DEO (guess why). . RSS-apex too has always opposed RTR-DEO (pls ask them). Their pet argument is --- RTR-DEO will bring instability in India !!! . If IYO RTR-DEO is good procedure, then you are doing immense damage by supporting CoBhAp-apex or RSS-apex. If you want RTR-DEO in India, then you must inform ALL the FACT that SoMoKe are opposing RTR-DEO procedure. This will weaken SoMoKe and also force them to bring RTR-DEO procedure in India.
