The campaign methods must have features which adds more activists , not just adds citizen-supporters. And adding activists is a hard part because no activist would like to decrease hours he wants to give to his own cause. . Lets label activist-X as activist who is working for law-draft-X. One activist may be working on many law-drafts. . The campaign-method-X for law-draft-X means set of steps activist for draft-X are taking to ensure that over 45 crore voters do send orders to MPs via SMS with url to law-draft-X . . The steps AFTER 45 crore voters have sent SMS with url-X are AMUS-steps aka Ahimsamurti Mahatma Udham Singh steps , which are NOT part of campaign steps. And I will not talk about them in this post. . So campaign method will include steps needed to ensure that 60 crore to 85 crore voters do come to know about the proposed law-draft. . Now only two known ways to spread information amongst crores of citizens are --- paidmedia and activists. The activists will use their money to print pamphlets , give newspaper advt etc etc. . Since we do not have support for paidmedia, only way we can spread information is via activists. . SO WHATEVER CAMPAIGN METHODS YOU HAVE TAKEN, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR METHODS ARE ADDING ACTIVISTS , NOT JUST SUPPORTERS . Now here is the main problem that most activists are already committed to one ore more cause. An activist may work on law-drafts that address his cause, but not on law-drafts that address other causes !! And "converting" activist i.e. asking him to give even one hour a week to other causes is next to impossible. . This is the central problem in true-activism ---- that an activist working for law-draft-X would NOT give even one hour to a law-draft for cause Y. In such case , how can 20 lakh activists be convinced to work on any law-draft-X? . So summarizing . 1. To inform 60 crore voters about a law-draft-X , some 2 lakh to 20 lakh activists would be needed to work on law-draft-X . 2. The campaign methods activists-X must have features that will not only get followers but also get more activists. . 3. It isnt easy to get activists for a cause, because almost all activists are already working on some cause, and an activist working on one cause will not be willing to work on other cause. . I will later write my views on how (3) can be overcome.
