Why is it difficult to explain weaponization of commons to fellow activists and voters? . Many find it easier to explain JurySys and narcotest on public, but not WoC. WHY? . Because nacrotest in public is all gains no loss. WoC is "overall gain" , not "all gain no loss". IOW< there is nothing to lose with these procedures. eg say narcotest in public is taken of accused. The innocent will never get wrongly punished. And worst case possibility is that a guilty one walks away by fooling narcotest (which isnt easy). So guilty ones walk away today. So there is NO additional loss. So there are only gains. . Likewise, when 12 to 1500 citizens are chosen at random , it is easy to see that level of nexuses with lawyers , relative lawyers etc will go down ; and a career criminal and his gang of 50 criminals who commit 100 crimes a year will end up facing 1000s of citizens instead of a few judges. So again, it is almost all gains and no losses. . But WoC isnt all gain no loss. eg say I interact with 1000 people - some close neighbours , some distant neighbours, some close relatives, some distant relatives, employees I work with etc etc. And I pass thru 1000 strangers when I go in bus or walk on road. . 1. Say none of the 2000 people and myself have guns. (1a) Then chances of gun attack on me by neighbours is zero but (1b) chances that pakistanies or chinese or bangladeshi or american or british will slaughter me are high. (1c) chances that violent gang will victimize me are high. . 2. say all have guns. (2a) Then chances of gun attack on me by neighbours are now NON-ZERO i.e. INCREASE and (2b) chances that pakistanies or chinese will slaughter me REDUCE.and (2c) chances that violent gang will victimize me REDUCE. . So one needs to calculate SIX probabilities and add them appropriately. . The six probabilities are . Prob-Neighbor-NoGun : Chances of me getting hit by one of the 1000 neighbours I know/ meet and 1000 strangers I meet when NONE has gun . Prob-Neighbor-Guns :. Chances of me getting hit by one of the 1000 neighbours I know/ meet and 1000 strangers I meet when all have guns . Prob-Pakistani-NoGun : Chances of me getting slaughtered by pakistanies of chinese or bangladeshis or americans when none of the 1000 neighbours I know/ meet and 1000 strangers , none have gun. . Prob-Pakistani-Guns : Chances of me getting slaughtered by pakistanies of chinese or bangladeshis or americans when none of the 1000 neighbours I know/ meet and 1000 strangers have guns . Prob-LocalGang-NoGun : Chances of me becoming victim of local gang for economic reasons when NONE of the 1000 neighbours I know/ meet and 1000 strangers , none have guns . Prob-LocalGang-Guns : 1c. Chances of me becoming victim of local gang for economic reasons when all have guns . Prob-Neighbor-NoGun > Prob-Neighbor-Guns Prob-Pakistani-NoGun < Prob-Pakistani-Gun Prob-LocalGang-NoGun < Prob-LocalGang-NoGun , And evaluating each probability is inherently subjective. . Also, paidmedia and SoMoKe have told all that "war will never happen" and so most see Prob-Pakistani-NoGun = Prob-Pakistani-Gun = 0 . . And it is also a fact that if police-courts improve, then 4 probalities, Prob-LocalGang-NoGun , Prob-LocalGang-NoGun , Prob-Neighbor-NoGun , Prob-Neighbor-Guns i.e. non-war probabilities decrease. . So explaining that , . Prob-Neighbor-NoGun + Prob-Pakistani-NoGun + Prob-LocalGang-NoGun < Prob-Neighbor-Guns + Prob-Pakistani-Gun + Prob-LocalGang-NoGun . is difficult and sujectivity applies.
